Sublimation Printing

Sublimation printing in a process where a picture or a design is first printed using special sublimation inks onto a transfer sheet. This is then "heat-applied" to an object by heating the transfer and the object together to 400 degrees in a transfer press. At this temperature, the sublimation ink becomes a gas, which then migrates onto the surface of the object being printed and dyes the surface with the design image or photo. With this process, photo realistic images and multi-colored designs can be printed onto coffee mugs, tiles, mousepads, special T-shirts, and sweatshirts. Because the artwork can be changed on the computer prior to each transfer being printed, it allows individual names to be added onto the photo or artwork to create unique one of a kind custom gifts when put onto a mug, luggage tag, jewelry box, baby blanket, or other item.

This process works best when applied to a white or very light colored polyester T-shirt, sweatshirt, blanket, or mousepad, or the white surface of an object such as a tile, mug, or glass cutting board. It cannot be used on darker colored objects since the print will not show up when applied over a darker color.
